Western Canada’s Tallest Christmas Tree: One of Our Local Holiday Traditions

Every year, our team has the honour of assisting in the installation of Western Canada’s tallest Christmas tree, a breathtaking 76-foot marvel that graces šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square, in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery. This iconic tree is the centerpiece of the Annual Vancouver Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration, presented by Amacon, and it’s a joy to contribute to one of the city’s most beloved holiday traditions.

The process begins with transporting containers filled with materials, including the Christmas tree pieces themselves, to the square. Even with the help of our fleet of hiabs and tractor trailers, it takes a full day to deliver everything to the site. A few days later, our crane unit 6050 takes center stage, carefully hoisting each section of the tree while the event production team assembles it. It’s an intricate and beautiful process, one we lovingly refer to as ‘holiday magic’.

Over the past five years working on this project, we’ve faced our share of challenges, but we always deliver and complete the installation on time, strengthening our bond with the event organizers year after year.

The tree lighting ceremony is happening tomorrow, November 29th at 6 PM, and is an event for all ages. Gather with your loved ones and experience the wonder of this incredible display of lights, community, and festive cheer. We can’t wait to see you there to welcome in the holiday season!
