The Destructive Outcome of Monday’s Storm – Phoenix Truck & Crane to the Rescue

After Monday’s fierce windstorm, which left widespread damage across the city, Phoenix Truck & Crane was called to action. Fallen trees were scattered everywhere, and today we headed to a residential property on the North Shore where one of these trees had come down directly onto a house, leaving the homeowner in a difficult and stressful situation. Thankfully, our experienced team and specialized equipment were ready to tackle the job safely and efficiently. We deployed two of our cranes: unit 1180 a 92 ton Hiab, and unit 6051 a 50 ton Hiab, to the home. Here’s a look at the cranes, who worked in tandem to remove the tree from the rooftop.

Site Setup and Strategic Positioning

As with all our projects, preparation is key. Before sending the cranes to site, our technical sales representative Shane, conducted a thorough site assessment. He used his years of experience to craft a detailed plan for a safe and successful removal, ensuring that each team member was clear on the tasks ahead.

The larger crane was set up at the front of the property to handle the heaviest and most challenging section of the tree. This cranes impressive lifting capacity and extensive reach were critical for safely lifting approximately 2,000 pounds at a 100 foot radius. Meanwhile, the second crane was strategically positioned in the alley to tackle the lower sections of the tree, providing a secure stabilization at the base, preventing any shifting during the lift.

A Coordinated Lift

With our team on the ground and Shane onsite to oversee, every aspect of the removal was meticulously coordinated. As our operators began the lift, the precision and harmony between the two cranes was remarkable. Unit 1180 carefully lifted the top section from the house, ensuring no further damage, while unit 6051 kept the base steady, securing each section and preventing unwanted movement.

Our operators demonstrated outstanding expertise and seamless communication throughout the lift.

Thank you to our team for a job well done, and to our clients for trusting us with their most complex lifts. When tough weather hits, you can count on us.

Now that the tree is removed, the homeowners can start repairing their roof and restoring their garden. In a few weeks, who knows, we may even be back to assist with those tasks, or to help bring some holiday cheer by installing Christmas lights. It’s all part of our diverse range of services.
