Now Hiring – General Freight Dispatcher

Scope

The General Freight Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching vehicles of varying sizes and capabilities throughout the lower mainland, using our computer dispatch software (IDS). The General Freight Dispatcher will work closely with the other dispatchers in the department to ensure that customers product is delivered promptly and safely. The role requires experience dispatching, preferably using IDS, but not mandatory. The role will report to the General Manager and the Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working team player, work well in stressful situations and thrive in fast-paced environments.

Job Description Details

• Plan, coordinate and schedule the drivers daily
• Ensure the drivers have proper instructions to perform their duties safely
• Ensure the schedules are carried out in an effective, efficient, and safe manner
• Make all necessary adjustments for road closures, overloads, lateness, and related problems
• Track and trace deliveries
• Answering customer calls and entering orders into dispatch software
• Follow all workplace safety policies

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Previous experience in Dispatching/Transportation Coordination required
• Experience using Internet Dispatch System (IDS) an asset
• Ability to remain calm while working in a fast-paced environment
• Trucking industry knowledge/experience an asset
• Ability to work both independently and in a team
