Scope

The Yard & Fleet Manager will oversee and manage the daily operations of the outdoor storage facility, and maintain the company owned fleet of cranes and trailers. Yard responsibilities include daily supervision of the yard (personnel, storage, and equipment), loading and unloading shipments, inventory control, space management, and customer service. The fleet responsibilities include coordinating with the team of crane operators, dispatchers, and operations manager to ensure the fleet is in good working order and all necessary repairs are scheduled and completed. The Yard & Fleet Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that the company owned fleet of vehicles can perform at their optimal capacities, and the yard is organized and running efficiently.

Job Description Details

  • Load & unload all incoming & outgoing shipments, using forklift
  • Communicate and schedule with third party delivery companies
  • Track all shipments, keep organized records, communicate with billing department
  • Manage storage tent and yard, keeping products organized and efficiently positioned
    to ensure maximum amount of rental income
  • Manage daily duties of the warehouse assistant

Fleet Maintenance

  • Review crane maintenance logs daily
  • Perform inspections of all equipment
  • Perform minor in-house repairs as needed
  • Coordinate with third party professional mechanics for maintenance and repairs
  • Communicate with operators regarding the status of fleet vehicles
  • Communicate with Dispatch & Operations Manager, regarding the status of fleet vehicle repairs
  • Maintain all tools and yard equipment to good working standards
  • Maintain forklift and ensure it continually meets all safety standards, ensuring it receives professional maintenance when required

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Forklift ticket required
  • Class 1 license required
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Previous warehouse management preferred
  • Reliable, punctual
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness, organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel
  • Physically fit, able to lift 50lbs

This is for a full time job (Monday to Friday) at our Surrey location.
