Hiring – General Freight Dispatcher

Scope

The General Freight Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching a variety of different vehicles throughout the lower mainland, using our computer dispatch software (IDS). The General Freight Dispatcher will work closely with the other dispatchers in this department to ensure that customers’ product is delivered promptly and safely. The role requires experience dispatching, preferably using computer dispatch software. The role will report to the General Manager and the Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working team player, work well in stressful situations and thrive in fast-paced environments.

Job Description Details

• Plan, coordinate and schedule the drivers daily
• Ensure the drivers have proper instructions to perform their duties safely
• Ensure the schedules are carried out in an effective, efficient and safe manner
• Make all necessary adjustments for road closures, overloads, lateness and related problems
• Follow all workplace safety policies
• Track and trace deliveries
• Enter orders into dispatch

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Knowledge of routing directions throughout the lower mainland
• Previous experience in Dispatch/Transportation Coordination preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate
• Experience using computer dispatch software
• Ability to remain calm while working in a fast-paced environment
• Trucking industry knowledge/experience an asset
• Ability to work both independently and in a team

• A comprehensive benefit plan included after a three-month probationary period
• The successful candidate will ensure our COR Certification standards are met
• Salary based on experience, ranging from $4700.00-$6,000.00/month
