When Reading At The Library Wasn’t An Option For Us

Dealing with public art is always very interesting work for our team. While usually we handle the install of these pieces, such as the giant panda bears at the Parq Vancouver Casino or the Spinning Chandelier under the Granville Street Bridge, last month we were hired to handle the removal of a piece at the Vancouver Public Library.

After being onsite for more than a decade, the large aluminum sign displaying the sentence “The Words don’t Fit The Picture” at the Vancouver Public Library needed to be taken down – and we were asked to help!

With the crane facing South and delivery truck facing North on Homer Street, the piece was dismantled delicately by our unit #6060 working at 40’ radius. It only took a few hours for this fixture of the Vancouver landscape to be taken away, now leaving space for some planned renovations of the plaza.

So yes, you caught us at the library during work hours, but rest assured that our craving for truck & crane books was not satisfied that day. We purely went down for business.
