I can’t believe that it has been 30 years since I sent my first Phoenix truck out on the road. It was on October 1, 1990 that I quit my job and went out on my own! Starting with a small office in the basement of our townhouse in Coquitlam, business quickly grew. Although the economy at that time wasn’t great, I was soon overwhelmed with work; so much so that I had to bring on a few other owner operators to help me make sure that all the deliveries were being made on time.  It sure was fun back then, and through the years that one truck has grown into a fleet of over 150 trucks and cranes of all different sizes and capabilities. I am so proud of Phoenix as we’ve come so far. From the days of ‘just me’ answering phones, dispatching, billing, driving, to where we are today leading the industry in safety.

From my first basement office to where we are now is incredible. Situated on United Boulevard in Coquitlam, our space now houses offices, indoor and outdoor storage space for our customers, and enough room for our all of our cranes and equipment.

During my time in the transportation industry, I have seen the freight needs and the ability to serve them change. When my first truck hit the road, the traffic was lighter and gas prices were a lot cheaper. The rapid growth of people in the Lower Mainland has put a lot of pressure on our infrastructures; the highways, bridges and tunnels are a struggle to navigate, but our dispatchers and drivers strive to move product quickly and efficiently. We take these factors into account, and constantly work to broaden our products and services to provide for the varied needs of our customers.

I’ve been fortunate to own and operate this business in the Tri Cities, and I believe that it’s my responsibility to give back to the community that has been so generous to me. We’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with some exciting charities that are important to me and my staff. Helping raise money and awareness for the Eagle Ridge & Royal Columbian Hospital Foundations, SHARE Family & Community Services and Access Youth Outreach Services to name a few.

Where Phoenix is today is truly incredible, but I won’t lie, we’ve had many ups and downs. It has taken a lot of hard work from a lot of people to grow Phoenix into the company that it is today. Thanks to the dedication of a hard-working team of individuals and owner operators, and to the support of a reliable customer base, Phoenix has stayed strong even during unstable economic times and uncertain times like we’ve encountered this year. We will keep looking ahead and are excited as we continue to discover more ways to provide dependable and safe transportation and crane services.

Thank you for being a part of my journey and for your trust along the way. I look forward to seeing what exciting things Phoenix Truck & Crane has to offer in the years to come!
